On Tuesday 8th April, Festina Lente had the immense privilege of welcoming over 80 Transition Students from St. Gerard’s Senior School to our new premises at Belfield House for a day that was like no other!
These students fundraised to raise the necessary finances to purchase the materials for this project and in collaboration with Denis and the great team at Difference Days, committed an entire day to work as a team and construct our new framed paddock which will be utilised in support of our therapeutic and educational programmes through Equine Assisted Learning.
The ethos of Difference Days is that ‘one day can be life changing’, and this is truly epitomised by the result of this day, as this space will be placed into immediate use in support of the needs of our clients and students alike.
The scale of this undertaking was incredible, and the result is a testament to what can be achieved when we work together with a shared purpose in the service of others.
Finally, a word of special thank you and recognition to the Festina Lente Team and to our service members who came along on the day in support of the students. Well done!
In addressing the students at the end of this special day, our CEO Dr Jill Carey shared “it is like a miracle coming through for us, because as from next week we will be able to work with families dealing with loss, working in support of people with mental health challenges and we are only able to do this because of this exceptional work you did today, a huge thank you on behalf of everyone at Festina”
