Leave a gift in your will
Making a will is one of the most important things that we can do for our families to know that they are taken care of when we are no longer around. Looking after our family, friends and loved ones is the priority. To know that they are taken care of when we are no longer around.
Once this is done, it is also an opportunity for you to help secure the future of work that matters to you. If or when the time is right for you to include a gift in your will, please remember us. A gift left to Festina Lente, no matter how small, will make a big difference.
Leaving a gift to Festina Lente will help us make sure we can continue to support those most vulnerable and marginalised in our communities to achieve their personal best now and into the future.
How do I leave a gift to Festina Lente in my Will?
The first thing that we would recommend doing is to get in touch with a solicitor. They are best placed to help you write your will, making sure that everything is done correctly and legally.
If you already have a will, and would like to change it to include a gift to charity, they will be able to advise you on this too.
Types of Legacies and suggested wording
If you would like to remember Festina Lente in your will, there are three main types of gift that you can make:
Residuary Gift
This is the gift of all (or part) of the value of your estate after debts, liabilities and other legacies have been paid and is the most valuable kind of legacy to Festina Lente.
Pecuniary
This is the gift of a particular sum of money.
Specific
This is the gift of a specified item that could be for example; property, a painting or a piece of jewellery.
Suggested wording for a gift in your Will
If you would like to leave Festina Lente a gift in your Will, the following wording may be helpful when you visit your legal advisor:
“I give:
all (or a % share of ) the residue of my estate
a gift in the sum of €X
bequeath a gift of X (outlining the details of the gift)
to Festina Lente (Registered Charity Number: 20061425), Old Connaught Avenue, Bray, Co. Wicklow A98 F702, for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or duly authorised officer shall be a valid and appropriate form of discharge.”
Suggested wording for a codicil to Festina Lente:
If you have already made your Will and decide that you would like to add a gift to Festina Lente, the following wording may be helpful when you visit your legal advisor:
“I (name) of (address) declare this to be my first codicil to my last Will dated (date). I give (details of legacy) to Festina Lente (Registered Charity Number: 20061425), Old Connaught Avenue, Bray, Co. Wicklow A98 F702, for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or duly authorised officer shall be a valid and appropriate form of discharge. In all other respects I confirm my Will. ”
