Equestrian Centre Helper Programme

The Equestrian Centre Helpers Programme is a programme designed to educate children aged between 12 years and 18 years old in a number of areas of equine care and stable care and is usually run during school holidays over a period of 3-4 days:

♦  How horses communicate & how to communicate with them

♦  How to tack up with a bridle, saddle & roller

♦  Identify the grooming kit and know its uses

♦  How to groom

♦  How to muck out a stable

♦  How to lead a pony to and from the field

♦  How to lead a pony in a lesson

This is a Festina Lente certified course and when all of the above can be done correctly and independently, the person will then be eligible to become a helper in our equestrian centre.  The cost is €10 per hour and to facilitate holidays it can be done over a period of time, eg Mid Term Breaks,  Christmas, Easter or Summer Holidays.  Please note that horse riding lessons are not part of this course.  We strive to be a centre of excellence with a strong emphasis on equitation science learning and training as well as excellent horse welfare standards.
