Every year, a range of horticultural workshops are planned in the Walled Garden.

These workshops include green fingers workshop, healing plants, flower arranging, mask making, and many other interesting learning workshops.

Free Gardening Workshops
A month by month practical guide on what to do in your garden during the year. Offer the opportunity to learn more about gardening and to gain inspiration for your own garden.
Every second Saturday of each month

Workshop

Allotment Gardening Workshop
If you are keen for a more in-depth course on vegetable, flowers or fruit growing either in your own garden or on a allotment. You will learn about soil, crop rotation, pest and disease, how to identify and control weeds in you garden, what to grow in the garden step by step guide on how to grow vegetables or ornamentals, harvesting and use of green manure.
All the produce grown during the workshop is yours to harvest and take home.

March –July, one day per week.
Cost:  For the eight workshops is €150.00.

Healing Plant Walkies Talkies
A series of walkie talkies around the Garden of Festina lente, relevant to all members of the public.
This demonstration offers the opportunity to learn how to utilise weeds and herbs growing in your garden. Come and forage for the seasonal jewels. Starting with the Stingers, bursting
with greenness and goodness and finishing with the purple berries and fragrant pines needles of winter. We will return to the kitchen to hubble bubble the magic from wild booty, making soups, ointments, tinctures, cleansers, cordials  flower waters and whatever else might come to mind on the day. Receipes, hedgerow teas and victorian flower cake will all be there too. We’ll walk in all weathers.Tuesdays from 10am to 12, from March to November

Autumn Workshop
A practical morning workshop covering bulb selection and planting, biennales, colour in your garden during the winter months, mulching, green manures, cutting back and dividing herbaceous plants

Scarecrow workshop for children
Date: June  – Time: 2.30-4.00pm, Monday to Friday

Halloween Mask making Workshop for  Children
This workshop is suitable for children from 5 to 11 years of age; it is limited to 10 children per workshop in order to allow each individual time to make their mask.  The children are then taken to the vegetable garden where they can choose a pumpkin to take home.
