Saol Anois is a Health Service Executive funded service which was set up in 2005.
To meet the support needs of adults with intellectual disabilities and/or dual diagnosis. The majority of those service users accessing the service have concluded one of the training programmes at Festina Lente Foundation.
Saol Anois aims to provide service users with a range of integrated vocational, developmental and leisure opportunities. A significant element of this involves the creation of a person centred plan for each individual accessing the service. The Personal Outcomes Measures model of person centred planning and quality assurance is employed for this purpose.
At present Saol Anois caters for 18 adults with a range of support needs. The programme is based in our campus on Old Connaught Avenue, Bray. There are three facilitators and a manager as part of the Saol Anois Team.
Examples of activities engaged in include music therapy workshops, art classes, pottery classes, horse-riding, hill-walking, domestic skills training, keep-fit programmes, healthy eating education, current affairs, film club, relaxation therapy, health promotion & personal care, active citizenship programme, horticulture, recycling project, stable and yard management, travel training, behaviour support programmes, money & budgeting and more. Ongoing support is also available for service users to engage in work placements, voluntary work and employment projects.
What a great day out for all involved going not only to Aras an Uachtarain but to meet our President Mary Mcaleese, and also have their photo taken aswell.
The Adult Day Service is funded by the Health Services Executive. It provides a person centred approach for people with an intellectual disability which promotes:
• Choice
• On-going learning and personal development
• Community Inclusion
• Variety
Each person is facilitated in designing and developing their own personalised plan. This is then reviewed on an ongoing basis during the year and reshaped as appropriate.

Although each person has their own series of activities during the week, they also do things as a group. This can include trips to the Art Gallery, Museum, Theatre, the local gym and other places of interest.
