In 2012, Festina Lente delivered its first Therapeutic Riding Coaching Programme. Since then, just under 55 Therapeutic Riding Coaches have graduated from the Programme, many of whom are successfully delivering Therapeutic Riding sessions in their area. This is the only programme for Therapeutic Riding Coaches which has mainstream accreditation from Quality in Qualifications Ireland (QQI), click here to read more on our Therapeutic Riding Coaching Programme.
This register has been developed in order to allow those interested in Therapeutic Riding lessons to be able to source Therapeutic Riding Coaches that have undergone specific training which qualifies them to provide therapeutic riding sessions to young people, teenagers and adults with a disability. For a more in-depth look at the content of this course and what it covers, click here to read more on our Therapeutic Riding Coaching Programme.
In addition to the training that Therapeutic Coaches have received in Festina Lente, all registered coaches are required to have:
• A valid current, valid Occupational First Aid Assessment Agent (OFAAA) (Health and Safety Authority Approved) Occupational First Aid Certificate (renewed every two years).
• A valid Safeguarding 1 Child Protection Certificate (Basic Awareness Workshop in Child Welfare & Protection – renewed every 3 years) run by the Irish Sports Council or their partners.
• A Garda Vetting Clearance (updated every five years)
And finally, all coaches on this register are required to engage in continuing professional development (CPD) which is either provided or approved by Festina Lente. This ensures that Therapeutic Riding Coaches continue to growth their current skills and continue with their professional development.
We hope that you will be successful in finding a Therapeutic Riding Coach convenient to either where you live or where are visiting.
